Call Experience Designer

TokBox is looking for a senior interaction designer to help propel forward our web-based video chat service found at tokbox.com. Criteria for the successful candidate include:

• Strong interaction design credentials, with demonstrated experience working on Web2.0 applications
• Enjoys working throughout the entire design cycle, with particular emphasis on identifying core UX challenges and designing solutions by developing intuitive flows and compelling layouts
• Able to convert wireframes to finished designs using existing visual language
• Likes to work iteratively with a close-knit product and development team
• Displays strong communication and collaboration skills
• Collaborate with executives and engineering to define and drive the call experience vision
• Exhibits relentless attention to detail along with a passion for creating complete designs

This is a hands-on position. The successful candidate will conceive of and produce designs as an individual contributor as well as in collaboration with the team. Candidates with leadership skills will have substantive opportunities to influence and guide design, as well as to evangelize their own ideas for how the product should evolve.

Experience in any of the following areas will increase the candidate's chances of success:

• Designing communications tools, social network applications or streaming media experiences
• Designing for Flash / Flex / AIR environments
• Designing user experiences that integrate rich media, motion graphics or video environments
• Designing highly immersive environments (including physical devices or environments)
• Working cross-functionally to evangelize product and design ideas
• Ideating and refining product feature sets

The successful candidate will likely have formal training in design or a related area, and will have experience working as a solo practitioner and in a team context. The successful candidate will have more than 5 years work experience in interaction, visual and UX design and will have excellent references.

Sr. Audio/Video Signal Processing Engineer/Scientist

Responsibilites

• This is hands-on technical research and development position that involves creating algorithms, shipping code and iteratively improving performance and quality
• Lead the effort to research and develop technology for two-way browser-based audio and video streaming and communication
• Work with other engineers to define, drive and complete the technology implementation
• Drive the quality and performance of the audio and video technologies to improve end-user experience
• Deliver successful product releases with product and operations teams
• Become a passionate evangelist for TokBox products

Experience/skills:

• 5+ years of working experience in digital audio and video communication and streaming related spaces
• Proven track record of algorithm development in signal processing, audio and video processing design and implementation
• Strong knowledge of codecs and signal processing libraries
• Expert in Matlab and other math and signal processing tools
• Expert in combination of programming languages, such as C, C++ or Java
• Track record of delivering of high quality code in a startup environment
• Expert in OO design and development skills
• Product experience with server-side video and audio communication related technologies (Adobe Flash, Red5 etc) a plus
• Knowledge and experience with relevant protocols a plus
• Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
• Master's degree is preferred

Sr. Front-End Engineer

• Lead the effort to implement web UI for an ultra-cool user experience.
• Design and implement the UI framework to enable fast UI development.
• Implement UI components and UI flow.
• Deliver successful product releases with QA and Operations teams.
• Become a passionate evangelist for TokBox products.

Experience/skills:

• 3+ years of combined experience in large-scale web software development.
• Great appreciation for UI design and user interaction.
• Expert in combination of HTML/DHTML, FLEX (AS3), JavaScript, C++, Java, Python / PHP and other core web technologies.
• Track record of leading engineering teams in the delivery of high quality products in a start-up environment.
• Strong knowledge in OO development and large-scale project experience.
• Strong knowledge in design patterns and distributed systems.
• Product experience with video and audio communication technologies a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead other engineers in design and implementation.
• Deep understanding with modern agile development methodologies and test-driven, component-oriented iterative development practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• BSCS or BSEE is required. Masters degree preferred.
